Villarreal Club de Fútbol is a Spanish professional football team. It was founded in 1923 as Club Deportivo Villarreal and is headquartered in the town that gave it its name, Villarreal (Castellón).

The Valencia club is known as the Yellow Submarine and has been competing in the lower divisions for many years. However, a debut came in 1998 in Serie A, the highest level of Spanish football. Currently, starting in 2013, it competes with the best teams in the country and is proud to compete for the top classification. It ranked second in the league in the 2007-08 season and won the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) World Team of the Month title in December 2004.
